The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has denied media claims that Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga refused to engage in negotiations with Russia.
This was reported by Radio Liberty.
Radio Liberty initially quoted Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga as saying, “Ukraine is not interested in continuing negotiations with Russia unless they involve a ceasefire on specific terms.”
However, in the cited statement, Sybiga did not say this. He merely criticized the recent talks in Istanbul for being reduced to discussions on prisoner exchanges.
Radio Liberty later acknowledged that the information they published was “incorrect.” In a comment to the outlet, Sybiga emphasized that Kyiv remains open to ceasefire negotiations “if they are constructive.”
“We need negotiations where decisions are made and issues are resolved,” the minister stated.
Earlier, information was spread in the media that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga stated that Ukraine was ready to withdraw from negotiations with Russia if it did not agree to a ceasefire.
