The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned its citizens about intensified checks at the Russian border. According to the ministry, citizens may be interrogated for hours, have their documents confiscated, have their mobile devices checked, and, in some cases, be pressured to sign contracts to serve in the Russian army.

The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this.

According to the agency, Russian border guards are paying particular attention to men between the ages of 18 and 60, people with recently issued passports, and those who have previously visited Ukraine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that upon crossing the border, citizens may be interrogated for three to twelve hours, required to undergo a polygraph test, and given access to mobile phones and other electronic devices.

Furthermore, during inspections, Russian security officials may ask questions about travel to Ukraine, attitudes toward the war, and professional activities. Citizens’ documents may be confiscated during the inspection.

The ministry also reported that those who refuse to comply with the demands of Russian border guards may be detained. According to the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, those detained may be subjected to psychological pressure to force them to sign a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense for military service.

Earlier, a Russian citizen was detained in Moldova for collecting information about Transnistria.
