Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that approximately 5% of the work remains before a peace agreement on Ukraine is concluded, but these stages are the most difficult.

He said this on Fox News.

According to the Finnish leader, during the talks in Berlin, Western allies demonstrated unity on two key issues. The first is the shared desire of Europe, Ukraine, and the United States for a just and lasting peace. The second is the need to provide Ukraine with reliable security guarantees.

“We’re almost there, but the hardest 5% is still ahead,” Stubb emphasized.

He also suggested that the Russian negotiating delegation could be more flexible during closed-door talks, noting that discrepancies between public rhetoric and actual negotiations are typical of diplomacy.

At the same time, the Finnish President warned that Russia’s strategic goal has not changed: the destruction of Ukraine as an independent state.

Over the weekend, negotiations were held in the United States with the participation of representatives from the United States, Ukraine, and Russia.

It was previously reported that the American team is using pressure to persuade the Ukrainian side to accept a peace agreement that would supposedly end the war.

As is known, US peace negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner demanded that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agree to the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas , as Russia insists.

As a reminder, following negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations in Geneva , the US peace plan for Ukraine underwent significant changes.

Incidentally, US Vice President J.D. Vance stated that the war in Ukraine has proven more difficult than in the Middle East, although he expects good news in the near future .
