During a Verkhovna Rada session, Viktoria Syumar, a member of parliament from the European Solidarity faction, announced a demand to summon the ministers of energy and justice, who are implicated in a corruption scandal, to parliament.
“Today, ten people died in Ternopil alone. We express our condolences to all the families of the victims and emphasize: we must be extremely responsible in what we do in this room today,” said Syumar.
“Our demands are as simple as can be: Minister Grishchuk and Minister Galushchenko must come here and look the people in the eye. Not you and me, but our constituents. And explain what’s on the tapes, who’s who, who’s who, and who’s who,” said Victoria Syumar.
“People today are demanding transparency and clear decisions from the government. We’re not here to push buttons, to appoint people without a program, and to fire people without a report. We insist that the prime minister come today, look voters in the eye, and explain what’s happening with her government. The government must be normal and represent a parliamentary coalition that implements a program.”
As is well known, Ukraine has been hit by the largest corruption scandal of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s tenure, engulfing his inner circle and leading to resignations and high-profile political statements. The investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) has generated significant public outcry and attracted international partners.
Meanwhile, journalists published a report on a corruption investigation involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s inner circle. The report states that the revelations are already creating political pressure and could impact his international support .
Meanwhile, following Operation Midas, which exposed large-scale corruption at Energoatom and rocked government bodies, a systematic campaign to discredit NABU and the SAPO was launched on Ukrainian Telegram . Anti-corruption agencies called the operation one of the most effective of 2025, but alongside its successes, a wave of identical messages appeared, attacking investigators and prosecutors.
Meanwhile, Mykhailo Podolyak, Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office, stated that corruption is an integral part of the modern economy, regardless of the country’s political system. He also reported that the Ukrainian authorities responded promptly to the corruption scandal in the energy sector.
