The NBU is preparing to issue a commemorative 20 hryvnia coin in an original design: when will it appear?

The National Bank of Ukraine plans to issue a new commemorative coin with a face value of 20 hryvnias. The coin will be dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence and will be put into circulation in August.

This was reported by the National Bank of Ukraine.

The NBU noted that the commemorative coin will be called “To the 35th Anniversary of Independence of Ukraine” and will be dedicated to the anniversary of state independence.

According to the released information, the coin will be made of 925 sterling silver.

Some technical specifications of the planned issue are also known. The coin’s circulation will be up to 5,000 copies.

The diameter of the commemorative coin will be 50 millimeters, and the mass of the precious metal in pure form will be 62.2 grams.

The National Bank of Ukraine recalled that commemorative coins are a special type of currency that combines a payment function with cultural, historical and numismatic value.

By the way, in 2024 , banknotes and coins totaling 114.7 billion hryvnias were put into circulation in Ukraine , and in 2024, a total of 79.3 billion hryvnias were put into circulation.
