The NBU predicts an increase in the cost of utility services
There are no plans to change tariffs for electricity, gas, heating, and hot water until the end of the heating season.
This is stated in the Inflation Report of the National Bank of Ukraine.
At the same time, the NBU notes that the energy system requires significant funds to restore after the shelling, so a gradual revision of individual tariffs is not ruled out in the future. The regulator emphasizes that it does not make tariff decisions, but a sharp increase in prices could increase inflation and increase the need for subsidies, while a long postponement of such steps creates risks for the energy market.
As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers has asked the National Commission for the Regulation of Energy and Utilities of Ukraine to postpone the increase in water tariffs. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stressed that in times of war, the population should not feel additional financial pressure.
