The Netherlands has allocated 500 million euros to Ukraine: what will the funds be used for?

The Netherlands has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 500 million euros. The funds will be used to purchase drones, air defense systems, and other weapons.

Reuters reports this.

Of the total amount, 250 million euros will be spent on the purchase of drones from Dutch defense companies. Another 250 million euros will go to the supply of weapons within the framework of the PURL initiative, which provides for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine.

Under this program, Ukraine receives, in particular, air defense systems, missiles, ammunition for F-16 fighters, and other military equipment.

The Dutch government also announced that after the allocation of the new package, its total contribution to the PURL program will increase to €1 billion.

In addition, the Netherlands and Ukraine signed a letter of intent on cooperation in the field of defense innovation. The document envisages the joint development of new military technologies and deepening the partnership between the defense industries of the two countries.

As previously reported, the Ukrainian Navy received another mine countermeasures ship from the Kingdom of the Netherlands within the framework of the Maritime Capabilities Coalition . The transferred minesweeper “Genichesk” became the fifth mine countermeasures ship in the Ukrainian fleet.

As a reminder, Sweden has transferred specialized equipment to Ukraine for servicing military airfields . The new equipment should improve runway maintenance and ensure uninterrupted aviation operations.
