The Netherlands will give Ukraine 250 million euros: what will the funds be used for?

The Netherlands is preparing a new support package for Ukraine – the government will allocate another 250 million euros for the purchase of American weapons within the framework of the PURL initiative.

This was announced by the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Ruben Brekelmans, writes European Pravda .

The PURL initiative allows NATO countries to buy weapons from the United States and quickly transfer them to Ukraine. Brekelmans explained that this is the second tranche from the Netherlands, and the country is doing so against the backdrop of constant Russian air attacks that hit energy and civilian infrastructure daily.

The minister said that Europe sees the scale of the destruction and wants to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense as soon as possible. The Netherlands plans to purchase anti-aircraft missiles for F-16s and ammunition from the United States, which Ukraine needs first and foremost.

As previously reported, Germany is significantly increasing its support for Ukraine: the Bundestag has approved the 2026 budget, which includes 11.5 billion euros for our country. This is a record amount of aid since the start of the full-scale invasion.

As a reminder, the European Union is preparing a new tranche of defense support for Ukraine worth about 80 million euros.
