The European Union has allocated €100 billion for Ukraine in its 2028–2034 budget, signaling continued support for the country’s resilience and development.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the decision following a meeting of the College of Commissioners.
“We are allocating €100 billion for Ukraine,” von der Leyen said during the presentation of the draft EU budget for 2028–2034.
She also recalled the existing Ukraine Facility, initially funded with €50 billion.
However, von der Leyen noted that the resources of the Ukraine Facility are “slowly but surely being depleted.” Therefore, the European Commission is proposing an additional €100 billion to replenish the fund and support Ukraine’s recovery.
It is worth noting that after the European Commission publishes the draft budget, both the European Parliament and the European Council must adopt their positions on it.
The EU’s multiannual financial framework for 2028–2034 is expected to be adopted by the end of 2027.
As a reminder, the EU announced the signing of agreements for Ukraine for 2.3 billion euros in the form of loan guarantees and grants.
As reported, Ukraine received 1 billion euros from the European Union from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.
