The number of participants in the tribunal against the Russian Federation has increased to 20: which country has joined?
Austria has declared its readiness to join the creation of a special tribunal on the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The corresponding decision has already been officially submitted to the Council of Europe.
This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga.
“I am grateful to Austria and my colleague Benedikt Meinl-Reisinger for proving once again: neutrality does not mean indifference. On the contrary, responsibility is key to ensuring lasting peace on our continent,” he wrote.
After this step, the number of countries ready to join the tribunal has increased to 20. Most of them are member states of the Council of Europe.
Sibiga emphasized that each new participating country brings Russia closer to being held accountable.
“This historic initiative to bring to justice strengthens our position and global respect for international law,” the minister added.
Recall, the day before , Iceland and Poland confirmed their readiness to join the agreement to establish a Special Tribunal to investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
Earlier, the head of the Swedish Foreign Ministry, Maria Malmer Stenergard, reported that Stockholm had joined the agreement on the Special Tribunal to investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
As reported, during an informal meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers in Kyiv , Germany, the United Kingdom, and Moldova announced their accession to the agreement on the establishment of a Special Tribunal to investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
