The number of wounded in Smila has increased after Russian shelling, including a child

On the night of Sunday, June 29, Russian occupation forces launched a powerful attack on the town of Smila in Cherkasy Oblast. At least six people, including a child, were injured in the shelling.

This was reported by the head of the regional military administration, Ihor Taburets, on Telegram.

According to preliminary data, the attack significantly damaged civilian infrastructure: three nine-story residential buildings and the college building of the National University of Food Technologies were damaged.

“As a result of the shelling in Smila, six people were injured, including a child, and a college and three high-rise buildings were damaged,” the press service of the State Emergency Service reported.

Two fires broke out at the site of the explosion due to shelling, which were quickly extinguished by rescuers. 70 residents were evacuated from their homes. One of the injured men was trapped in an elevator shaft, but rescuers quickly freed him.

Currently, 81 rescuers and 30 pieces of equipment are working at the scene. The operational headquarters is coordinating the work, and the inspection of damaged objects is ongoing.
