In the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhia region, the Russian administration may completely shut down the Internet to tighten control over the population.
This is reported by activists of the “Resistance” movement.
According to them, the so-called “governor” Yevgeny Balytsky appealed to Russian structures with a request to allow a complete network blockade in the region. Initially, the restrictions were planned to be introduced by March 16, but this failed to happen.
“The Internet shutdown is considered a temporary measure within the framework of the FSB’s so-called ‘special operations,’” the activists note.
The reasons for the delay have not been officially explained, most likely technical problems. However, it is possible that such attempts will be repeated in the near future.
It is noted that the occupation authorities do not trust the local residents and consider them pro-Ukrainian.
In fact, this is another attempt to isolate the occupied territories from information and limit communication with the territory controlled by Ukraine.
By the way, in Russia, large-scale disruptions in the Telegram messenger have begun, due to which users cannot send messages and upload photos and videos. In just a few days, thousands of complaints about the service’s operation have been recorded in different regions of the country.
