Occupiers Desecrate Bodies of Fallen Ukrainian Soldiers — General Staff

On the Hulyaipil front, Russian forces allegedly carried out another war crime: according to Ukrainian intelligence, a Russian unit commander ordered the beheading of fallen Ukrainian soldiers and demanded their bodies be left in plain sight as an act of intimidation.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On May 12, 2026, servicemen of the 225th separate assault regiment were ambushed by an infiltrated enemy group.

Two Ukrainian soldiers died during the battle.

According to radio intercepts, the commander of the Russian unit gave a direct order to commit atrocities on the bodies of the fallen defenders.

In particular, in the interception, he can be heard ordering two heads to be cut off “for confirmation” and placed on the edge of the field in a prominent place.

His subordinate confirmed his willingness to carry out this criminal order.

The General Staff emphasized that with such actions, the occupiers once again demonstrate their sadistic nature, demonstrative cruelty, and complete disregard for the rules and customs of war.

They emphasized that the desecration of the bodies of fallen soldiers is a gross violation of international humanitarian law and a war crime that has no statute of limitations.

According to preliminary information, the unit whose servicemen committed this crime has already been identified. It is also known that the commander who gave the order had previously ordered the abuse of Ukrainian prisoners of war.

The General Staff stated that all those guilty will definitely be punished, and retribution will be inevitable for everyone involved in this atrocity.
