On July 16, a Russian airstrike hit central Dobropillya in the Donetsk region, with initial reports confirming casualties and injuries among the civilian population.

This was reported by Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.

Russia dropped an aerial bomb on central Dobropillya at the very hour when people were returning home from work. The strike hit near the Aurora store, killing and injuring many civilians, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets reported.

Emergency services, medics, and military doctors are working at the scene. However, the local hospital is overwhelmed and cannot accommodate all the wounded.

“This is another deliberate attack on civilians. Russia is a terrorist state that is waging war against peaceful Ukrainians and destroying lives even far from the front line,” the ombudsman said.

The Donetsk Regional Military Administration reported that 2 people were killed and 14 injured as a result of the strike.

“The Russians once again targeted a location that is always crowded — a shopping center in the city center. This time, they used a 500-kilogram aerial bomb,” said Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.
