The occupiers have reduced the use of heavy equipment at the front: what is known about the enemy’s new tactics

During the summer, the Russian occupation forces significantly reduced the use of armored vehicles at the front, instead beginning to use more light motor vehicles.

This was stated by the spokesman for the National Guard, Ruslan Muzychuk, during a telethon, Ukrinform reports .

He explained that the enemy’s losses in armored vehicles are now small, compared to previous periods. In particular, in August the enemy lost 110 armored combat vehicles, while in January-April – 600 units.

“This is primarily due to the use of drones. The enemy understands that the survivability of equipment during assaults is quite short, so he uses more infantry groups and automotive equipment,” the spokesman noted.

At the same time, the number of light vehicles remains high: during the summer, the Ukrainian military destroyed an average of 3,000 units of vehicles.

According to Muzychuk, light automotive equipment is one of the main maneuverable means of transport — fast, mobile, and compact.

In addition, both Ukraine and Russia have increased the use of drones of various types on the front line, and have also changed the tactics of their use.

“Electronic reconnaissance and combat systems are also emerging, which have a significant impact on the battlefield. Given that an increasing number of new types of drones are appearing, this affects the number of infantry assaults and the construction of defensive battle formations. Since the beginning of this year alone, the number of drones used by National Guard units has tripled. These are various models, ranging from EPVs to drones that conduct aerial reconnaissance or carry combat loads,” the spokesman noted.

As a reminder, the Russian command has identified a new operational target in the Donetsk region – during the fall, the occupation forces will try to capture Pokrovsk, Myrnograd, and Dobropillya.

As reported, another “seasonal” offensive campaign by the Russian occupiers ended in practically nothing ; the occupiers did not gain full control over any major city.
