The State Bureau of Investigation was tasked with collecting information and opening criminal proceedings against former military officials.
Political blogger Alena Yakhno published insider information on her Facebook page. According to her, the suspects involved are Generals Mikhail Zabrodsky, Sergey Nayev, Mykola Oleshchuk, Viktor Muzhenko, Sergey Krivonos, and Valeriy Kondratyuk.
The blogger cites two reasons for such actions on the part of the State Bureau of Investigation: according to her, the Office of the President is attempting to limit the independence and public influence of generals within Ukraine and internationally.
“They have neither the habit nor the desire to coordinate their media activities with anyone else. Especially not with the OP, to which they are most often in opposition,” Yakhno writes. The blogger also points out that preparations for the elections have already begun. In her opinion, the OP is now actively clearing the media space of potential competitors – citing former commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny, who has been targeted by pro-government Telegram channels, as an example.
“Investigators should be instructed to look for any possible or impossible violations. And it doesn’t matter if the case is rigged. Screw it! The main thing is the rapid registration of criminal cases and the sensational headlines in Telegram’s garbage feeds. Even if all these cases fall apart before they reach trial, before they even reach court,” Yakhno said.
According to the blogger, the OP’s main goal is not necessarily to secure real sentences for the generals, but rather to undermine their authority and public influence.
“This inside information could have been dismissed as impossible, because it couldn’t be. Such famous people, influential generals… But in January of this year, the court ordered the arrest of a colonel and a general suspected of inadequately defending the Kharkiv region. And society didn’t notice. Unfortunately,” the blog concludes.
