The US-captured oil tanker Marinera, previously known as Bella 1, belongs to a company linked to a businessman from occupied Crimea.
This is reported by the Russian publication “Novaya Gazeta. Europe”.
As journalists found out, the tanker was owned by the Russian company Burevestmarin. Its director and sole owner is listed as entrepreneur Ilya Bugay, who comes from occupied Crimea.
According to the Global Integrated Shipping Information System of the International Maritime Organization and the Unified State Register of Legal Entities of the Russian Federation, the company “Burevestmarin” was registered six months ago in the city of Ryazan. It was probably engaged in maritime transportation.
It is also known that since 2018, Bugay has headed the company “Rusneftekhimtorg”, which specializes in trading petroleum products. In 2020, its revenue reached about 4 billion rubles, but later its financial indicators deteriorated sharply. According to the results of 2024, the company recorded losses.
According to information from open sources, Bugay graduated from the Crimean Federal University in 2008 and currently lives in Moscow.
It was previously reported that the United States of America conducted an operation to seize the Venezuelan-bound oil tanker Mariner, which was sailing under the Russian flag.
