The pace of the Russian offensive has more than halved in six months – Syrsky

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that in the first half of 2026, the pace of advance of Russian troops in Ukraine more than halved.

According to him , the Russian army was unable to implement plans for a large-scale offensive, although it had an almost double advantage in personnel and equipment.

“The enemy tried to launch a large-scale offensive, but in fact failed to achieve any of the goals set,” Syrsky noted.

He reported that while previously Russian troops were conducting active offensive operations in 13 operational directions, now there are a maximum of six or seven such directions left.

According to the Commander-in-Chief, the Ukrainian military is not only deterring the enemy, but also conducting active operations on certain sections of the front and maintaining operational initiative.

“It is thanks to the active actions of the Defense Forces in the first half of 2026 that the pace of advance of Russian troops was more than halved,” Syrsky emphasized.

At the same time, the average monthly losses of the Russian army in killed and wounded amount to about 32 thousand servicemen.

Syrsky also reported that in six months, 697 targets on Russian territory were hit by Deep Strike weapons, and the enemy’s economic losses are estimated at at least $6.1 billion. In addition, as part of the Middle Strike campaign, the Defense Forces hit more than 7,000 enemy targets.

The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that despite the positive dynamics, the enemy should not be underestimated, as Russia has not abandoned its plans to completely occupy the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and also seeks to expand offensive operations in other directions.
