As of the morning of December 26, the situation in Ukraine’s energy system is gradually stabilizing, despite ongoing Russian strikes on infrastructure facilities.
The head of NEC Ukrenergo, Vitaliy Zaychenko, announced this during the telethon.
According to him, attacks on the energy sector occur virtually every day—by drones, artillery, and other weapons. At the same time, Zaychenko noted, the energy system is currently showing gradual improvement.
The company’s director noted that repair crews begin work as soon as the safety situation allows. He added that Ukrainians can see the results of this work in real time, as power has been maintained in consumers’ homes.
Zaychenko also noted that power outage schedules were relaxed over Christmas, and in some regions, they were not applied at all. He emphasized that this was not due to the rerouting of electricity between regions.
“We’re not talking about rerouting. This is the result of the dedicated work of Ukrenergo repair crews, distribution system operators, and the specialists restoring the power generation,” he explained.
According to Zaychenko, it was thanks to these joint efforts that they were able to quickly restore facilities damaged during the latest massive missile attack and provide Ukrainians with electricity for most of the day.
As a reminder, on the night of December 26, Odessa was again hit by Russian drones. The attack resulted in a hit on one of the city’s infrastructure facilities, causing a fire.
