The Presidential Office revealed Russian plans to seize southern Ukraine.
Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Pavlo Palisa stated that Russia has not abandoned plans to seize new territories of Ukraine, in particular, the regional centers of Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa.
Palisa spoke about this in an interview with Donbass.Realities.
According to Palisa, Moscow continues to implement an ambitious strategy. This involves not only the complete occupation of the Donetsk region, but also the creation of a buffer zone in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions, as well as advances in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions.
“They expect to advance as far as possible and create conditions where they can lay claim to capturing Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odessa,” the brigadier general noted.
At the same time, Palisa emphasized that he does not yet see the possibility of Russian troops implementing these plans in the next six months.
According to his estimates, by 2025, Russian forces would have occupied less than 1% of Ukraine’s total territory, losing more than 450,000 troops.
According to Palisa, to capture approximately 6,000 square kilometers of territory in the Donetsk region that remains under Ukrainian control, the Russian army will need approximately a year and a half and resources comparable to the current Russian-led force in Ukraine.
“It will be very difficult for them to do this. It won’t happen nearly as quickly as they want,” he emphasized.
