The price of Brent oil has risen sharply to $90: has this affected the cost of gasoline in Ukraine?

Amid the escalation of the conflict between the US and Iran, global oil prices continue to rise, with Brent exceeding $90 per barrel.

Brent crude futures rose $2.09, or 2.37%, to $90.19 a barrel on Monday, July 20. This is the highest level since June 11. According to analysts at ING, Brent rose 15.9% last week, the biggest weekly gain since April.
At the same time, US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading at around $85 per barrel.
According to journalists, the reason for the price increase was the escalation of hostilities between the US and Iran, which led to a reduction in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
The news agency notes that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the destruction of two oil tankers after they attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, the United States announced the introduction of a naval blockade of Iranian ports, and Iran announced attacks on vessels that, according to it, violate the rules of passage through the strait.
According to LSEG, only 4 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, compared to 8 on Saturday.
At the same time, a wave of fuel price increases continues at Ukrainian gas stations on July 20. WOG and OKKO chains have increased prices the most over the past 24 hours, while SOCAR left the cost unchanged, but continues to maintain some of the highest prices on the market.
As of July 20, A-95 gasoline at WOG gas stations costs 81.50 hryvnias per liter, at OKKO and SOCAR — 81.90 hryvnias, while the lowest price is offered by Ukrnafta — 75.90 hryvnias per liter.
Diesel fuel is sold at WOG for 82.90 hryvnia per liter, at OKKO and SOCAR for 81.90 hryvnia, and at Ukrnafta for 76.90 hryvnia.
Automobile gas costs 41.90 hryvnia per liter in WOG, OKKO, and SOCAR chains, while it can be purchased at Ukrnafta for 38.40 hryvnia.
According to RBC-Ukraine , the largest price increase was recorded in the WOG network, where gasoline increased in price by 2.60 hryvnia per liter, and diesel fuel – by 3 hryvnia. At OKKO, all types of gasoline and diesel fuel increased in price by 1 hryvnia per liter, and at Ukrnafta, prices increased by 50 kopecks. SOCAR did not change the cost of fuel, but remains the most expensive network among the listed operators.
Earlier it was reported that the US is growing concerned about the lack of military resources amid the escalating conflict with Iran. According to sources, the Pentagon is preparing for a possible expansion of the military operation, but its capabilities are limited.
Recall that the price of Brent crude oil increased at trading on Monday, July 14. For the first time in a month, the price exceeded $87 per barrel against the backdrop of aggravation of relations between the US and Iran, as well as new attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
