The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense did not support the president’s proposal to dismiss the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk.
This was reported by People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
According to the results of the vote, seven committee members voted in favor of dismissing Malyuk, six were against, and two abstained. The decision did not receive a majority of votes.
At the same time, the decision of the specialized committee is not a direct obstacle to further consideration of the issue in the session hall. According to Zheleznyak, the president’s proposal can still be formally submitted to a vote in parliament.
The key issue remains the availability of 226 votes in the chamber. Currently, according to the deputy, there is no such support. He assumes that the resolution on Malyuk’s dismissal will not be put to a vote in the near future, but will try to return to this issue later, when the necessary number of votes appears.
As previously reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially appointed the head of the Special Operations Center “A” Yevheniy Khmara as the acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine.
As a reminder, the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, has agreed to resign from his post . The decision was made after lengthy consultations and pressure from the President’s Office.
