Ukraine may introduce new restrictions for citizens who evade mobilization, as well as for servicemen who voluntarily left military units.
This was reported by Vadym Ivchenko, a member of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence, in an interview with “Telegraph”.
It is noted that the Verkhovna Rada is discussing legislative initiatives that provide for the application to such persons of mechanisms similar to those already used in relation to alimony debtors.
Potential restrictions include blocking bank accounts, restricting access to loans, notary and administrative services, and a temporary ban on driving.
“In fact, there should be a base for punishment for the SZCH, including for evasion. Because it is impossible to reduce the SZCH when you are not punishing. We have six different types of punishments for alimony payers who do not pay for their children. They have their accounts blocked, loans are not given, and so on,” Ivchenko explained.
In his opinion, such restrictions could help reduce the number of cases of evasion of mobilization and unauthorized abandonment of military units.
At the same time, the deputy emphasized that punitive measures alone are not enough. The state must also develop a recruiting system, motivational programs for military personnel, and effective rotation mechanisms.
The relevant initiatives are currently under discussion in the relevant parliamentary committee. The draft laws have not yet been registered in the Verkhovna Rada.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian military was warned that after leaving the unit without authorization, they will now only be able to transfer to assault troops.
As reported, approximately 300,000 criminal cases of desertion and desertion from service (SZCh) have been registered in Ukraine . There is discussion about increasing the punishment for desertion from service, but the final decision will depend on the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
