The Verkhovna Rada proposes changes to the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

This is stated in the relevant resolution on the parliament’s website.

The draft resolution “On changes in the administrative-territorial structure of Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv regions” No. 13666 was initiated by People’s Deputy Anna Skorokhod.

It is noted that measures necessary to ensure the defense of Ukraine are being taken in the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as a result of which administrative ties between individual settlements have been severed.

“This circumstance has negatively affected the financial support of educational and healthcare institutions. This also applies to the provision of social assistance to the population of the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions controlled by the Ukrainian authorities,” the document states.

If the project is approved, the changes will affect Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Luhansk, and Kharkiv regions.

The unoccupied territories of the Kramatorsk and Bakhmut districts of Donetsk region, as well as the Svatyiv and Seversko-Donetsk districts of Luhansk region, will join the Kharkiv region.

The unoccupied territories of Volnovakha and Pokrovsky districts of Donetsk region will be annexed to Dnipropetrovsk region.
