As of September 1, since the beginning of 2025, Russia has drafted about 280,000 contract soldiers into the occupation army.
Vadym Skibitsky, Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, told this in an interview with Ukrinform .
“Unfortunately, they have the opportunity, and it is supported financially and by propaganda,” noted a representative of the Ministry of Defense’s GUR.
According to him, at least 35,000 servicemen join the Russian army every month.
In addition, Skibitsky stressed that the Kremlin pays significant amounts to contract soldiers. In particular, for signing the first contract, military personnel receive 2 million rubles.
“So there are all indications that by the end of the year they will fully implement the recruiting plan,” he concluded.
It was previously reported that cadets from the Military Institute of Communications from St. Petersburg are undergoing “practice” at the front , while the main building of the educational institution remains empty.
