On Monday, June 16, Russian forces launched an airstrike targeting a residential neighborhood in Kupyansk, Kharkiv region, marking another attack on civilian infrastructure.
This was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Russia attacked the city at approximately 3:40 p.m., striking a residential apartment building and igniting a fire.
The number of casualties is currently being verified, but preliminary reports suggest that at least three civilians may have been killed in the airstrike. Additionally, it is known that a man and a woman sustained acoustic barotrauma as a result of the blast wave.
The Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that the situation in the city remains difficult, making an on-site inspection challenging due to ongoing security threats.
“Under the procedural guidance of the Kupyansk District Prosecutor’s Office in the Kharkiv region, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the commission of a war crime (Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the statement reads.
As a reminder, Russian occupiers fired on a civilian car in the village of Bilozerka in the Kherson region. A 42-year-old man was injured as a result of the attack.
