Russian military personnel attacked a convoy of civilians evacuating from Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region. The Defense Forces are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident and determining the number of casualties.

The Joint Forces Group reported this on its Facebook page.

It is noted that the convoy leaving the city consisted mainly of civilians. Information about the consequences of the strike is currently being verified.

Viktor Tregubov, a spokesman for the Joint Forces Group, suggested that the Russians used the evacuation for information provocation. According to him, previously the occupiers could have used the so-called evacuation as a cover for the rotation of troops, but this time they themselves attacked the column.

“They struck them directly. There is no more information yet, there is a video of this incident, but it is not clear enough to establish the details of how many people were injured,” Tregubov said.

He also confirmed the presence of Russian military personnel in Kupyansk, particularly in the northern areas of the city. According to Tregubov, the occupiers are using this to organize provocations.

In addition, Russian troops have intensified their efforts in the Kupyansk direction, trying to regain lost positions. In particular, they are attacking in the direction of Polohiv and Kupyansk-Vuzlovye.

On the western bank of the Oskol, the occupiers are trying to regain positions lost over the past few weeks and are conducting local counterattacks. As Tregubov explained, the Russians are thus seeking to maintain a bridgehead on the right bank of the river.

It was previously reported that on the evening of October 12, Russian troops struck a residential building in the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv. The attack caused the entire entrance of the five-story building to collapse. People may be trapped under the rubble.
