The Russian Ministry of Defense acknowledged the problem of recruiting students for war

The Russian Ministry of Defense has responded to reports of forced recruitment of students and announced the launch of a “hotline” for complaints.

This is stated in a statement by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

The department tried to refute information about mass expulsions of students for further coercion into signing service contracts, in particular in unmanned military units.

At the same time, the very appearance of such a statement indicates the scale of the problem and confirms that such a practice has become widespread.

Analysts say the situation points to a recruitment crisis in Russia. Young people are increasingly refusing contracts, realizing that promises of short-term service do not correspond to reality.

According to estimates, under conditions of “partial mobilization”, any contract actually has no clear deadlines, and student status does not guarantee avoidance of combat units.

The CPD emphasizes that the Russian authorities are trying to maintain the appearance of a legal field, but the education system is already working for the needs of the war, and students are seen as a resource to replenish the army’s losses.

It was previously reported that Russia is trying to organize artificial protests in Cyprus against EU policy and support for Ukraine.

As a reminder, the Supreme Court of India has launched an investigation into the recruitment of Indian citizens into the war on the side of the Russian Federation after appeals from the families of the victims.
