The Russians have concentrated a large number of personnel near Pokrovsk: is there a threat of a direct assault on the city?

Russian occupation forces have accumulated a large number of personnel between three cities in the Donetsk region — Pokrovske, Dobropillya, and Kostyantynivka.

This was stated by the spokesman for the Khortytsia Regional Administrative District Viktor Tregubov during the telethon.

According to him, the enemy is trying to establish a foothold in that region. In particular, the Russians are using their superior manpower there, sending small groups to infiltrate Ukrainian positions.

“What is infiltration? This is when small groups of infantry are moving, in fact, constantly. Somewhere they will crawl through, somewhere they will break through and cross the front zone, the first line of Ukrainian defense, and will start trying to gain a foothold somewhere in the cities and create problems,” Tregubov explained.

At the same time, as the group’s spokesman assured, as of now there is no threat of a direct assault on Pokrovsk.

“Let’s say, if they had decided to just charge into the city head-on, it would certainly have made things more difficult for us, but for them it would have most likely ruined the campaign. They would have simply started losing more people than they could afford to lose over the summer,” he noted.

Tregubov added that earlier, during the winter campaign, the occupiers tried to bypass the city in a shorter arc – from the western side. However, the tactic proved to be a failure, as the Russians lost a large amount of equipment and over a thousand people every day.

“Now they are bypassing Pokrovsk and Mirnograd in a long arc. This is to prevent such a scenario, not to mention to attack head-on,” Tregubov concluded.

Let us remind you that the Russians are not giving up attempts to wedge themselves between Pokrovskoe and Kostyantynivka in order to pose a threat from the east to the Pokrovskoe-Mirnograd agglomeration.

It is known that the Russian occupation army directed the main attack towards the settlements of Pokrovsk, Myrnograd and their surroundings.

By the way, the Russian occupiers have concentrated most of their forces in the Pokrovsky direction , where they are trying to semi-encircle the city.
