The Russians struck at the memory: the Batkivshchyna-Mata complex in Kyiv was damaged

Russian troops damaged the Hall of Fame of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II at the foot of the “Motherland” monument.

This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture Tetyana Berezhna.

“This is a monument of science and technology of local importance. Symbolically and cynically at the same time: the aggressor state strikes at a place of memory of the fight against aggression in the 20th century, repeating crimes already in the 21st century,” Berezhna emphasized.

Museum specialists, technical services, and police are working on site. They are inspecting the area, recording the damage, and conducting an initial assessment of the damage. Once the inspection is complete, the scope of the restoration work will be known.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has damaged or destroyed over 1,680 cultural heritage sites and thousands of cultural infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.

The museum continues to operate.

It was previously reported that damage to monuments of national importance was recorded in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra as a result of a Russian attack on the night of January 24.

We will remind you that in Odessa, the building of the astronomical observatory in Shevchenko Park was damaged due to Russian attacks.
