The Russians tried to storm the “Goptivka” checkpoint: what is known about the situation in the Kharkiv region

The head of the Dergachiv city military administration, Vyacheslav Zadorenko, reported that on the morning of August 4, Russian troops tried to storm the “Goptivka” checkpoint in the Kharkiv region, but suffered serious losses and were forced to retreat.

He wrote about this in Telegram .

It is noted that the Russians attempted to break through the state border at the Goptivka checkpoint. The fighters of the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine repulsed and inflicted significant losses on the enemy – more than ten occupiers were destroyed, and dozens of others fled back to Russia in panic.

Zadorenko emphasized that no breakthroughs or captures occurred, and the reports spread by Russian propaganda about the alleged capture of “Goptivka” are fakes.

“The checkpoint is under the full control of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Thank you to the 58th Brigade for defending the border! Glory to the Armed Forces of Ukraine!” he noted.

The assault took place against the backdrop of intensified fighting in the north of Kharkiv region. Russian troops attacked in the area of Velyky Burluk, Milovy and Khatny, and also carried out offensive operations in the Kupyansk direction – near Golubivka, Zapadny, Kamyanka, Krasny Pershy and Petropavlivka. Ukrainian units continue counterattacks and hold key positions.

It was previously reported that Russian troops launched an offensive in another direction in the Kharkiv region, trying to draw away the reserves of the Defense Forces from the Kupyansk direction.
