The Ryazan oil refinery has suspended operations after an attack by Ukrainian drones.

The Ryazan Oil Refinery in Russia suspended operations following a Ukrainian drone attack on September 6. The strike shut down two of the refinery’s units, one of which accounts for nearly half of its capacity.

Reuters reports this, citing its own sources.

According to the agency’s sources, the refinery’s main unit, with a capacity of approximately 8 million tons of oil per year, was shut down following the attack. Another unit, capable of processing up to 4 million tons of oil annually, was also shut down.

At the same time, the third main installation of the enterprise has been undergoing maintenance since mid-May.

Reuters sources noted that repairs to the damaged equipment could take several weeks.

The attack on the Ryazan Oil Refinery occurred on the morning of September 6. Following the strike, a fire broke out at the facility.

This isn’t the first time the plant has been damaged by drone attacks. Its infrastructure was previously hit on May 15 and July 29, forcing operations to be suspended.
