The SBU Academy spoke about the competition and the results of the admission campaign
One of the main challenges for Ukrainian education remains the trust of applicants and their parents. At the same time, the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine recorded high competition this year – more than 10 people for one place under a state order.
This was announced by the rector of the National Academy of the SBU Andriy Chernyak during a roundtable discussion dedicated to the results of the 2026 admission campaign.
According to him, the main problems for education remain war and the outflow of youth abroad. However, he called the trust in educational institutions by applicants and their parents an equally important issue.
Chernyak said that more than half of the parents of those entering the SBU Academy are military personnel or representatives of the Security and Defense Forces.
This year, the Academy enrolled more new students than the institution enrolled in 2021. Approximately 10% of entrants graduated with scores of 190 or higher.
The state order for the SBU Academy in 2026 was doubled. Despite this, the competition exceeded 10 people for one budget place. An average of four to five people per place applied for a contract under various educational programs.
According to the rector, over 40% of the Academy’s students become SBU officers after completing their studies. Another 25–30% of graduates join other components of the Security and Defense Forces.
In 2026, the Academy also launched two new educational programs – in corporate security and critical infrastructure protection, as well as in information and analytical activities. They are being developed together with private business and large IT companies.
In addition, the Academy continues to develop areas related to cybersecurity. According to Chernyak, the training programs are focused primarily on practical skills and the needs of future employers.
