The Security Service of Ukraine reported the successful destruction of the Russian military airfields “Saki” and “Gvardeyskoye” in temporarily occupied Crimea. According to preliminary data, at least seven combat aircraft were destroyed or damaged.
The Security Service of Ukraine reported this.
The Saki airfield was struck for the second time this week. Seven hangars were damaged, housing Su-30SM, Su-30, and Su-24 fighter jets and frontline bombers.
At the Gvardeyskoye airfield, two hangars containing storage facilities for Shahed-type attack drones and aviation equipment were hit.
The special services noted that Saki and Gvardeyskoye are among the key airbases of Russian troops in Crimea, from which combat sorties are regularly launched for missile and bomb strikes against Ukraine.
According to the SBU, the strikes were carried out as part of a 40-day operation announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to increase pressure on Russia. The agency stated that it would continue to strike the enemy’s military infrastructure to reduce its ability to wage war against Ukraine.
As a reminder, on the night of June 26, drones attacked several targets in Russia and temporarily occupied Crimea . The Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk, Tula Oblast, was targeted, as was the Kerch area, where local residents reported a series of explosions and air defense activity. NASA’s FIRMS service also recorded a fire near the deployment area of the Pantsir S-1 air defense system and the airfield.
