Information about the death of the coach of the Romanian national team and former coach of the Ukrainian Dynamo and Shakhtar Donetsk, Mircea Lucescu, has appeared on social networks.
As noted, doctors declared him brain dead. Football fans began to express condolences en masse.
At the same time, some Turkish media denied the information about the coach’s death, assuring that he was in the hospital.
“Mircea Lucescu is not dead and continues to be treated in the intensive care unit,” writes Fanatik.com.tr, citing sources close to the Romanian coach.
In addition, the Romanian sports portal GSP reported on the morning of April 6 that Lucescu’s condition had not changed overnight. He is in serious condition and is still in intensive care.
“This is a difficult situation and I ask you to respect this moment. The hospital staff knows best how to explain this to you, they make announcements when necessary, when they think it is the right time. Understand this. This is not easy at all,” said Rezvan Lucescu, the coach’s son.
It is worth noting that the day before, Romanian Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete noted that Lucescu’s condition has worsened recently, News.ro reports .
“Unfortunately, he is in critical condition. This is information that I have and that I can confirm publicly. He is in intensive care, in critical condition, and over the last 24-48 hours his condition has deteriorated from a medical point of view,” the official said, adding that the patient is in an induced coma and cannot speak.
It was previously reported that Mircea Lucescu recently lost consciousness before the team’s morning training session on the eve of the match against Slovakia, which is scheduled to take place on March 31.
