The sixth person involved in the corruption scheme: Minister Chernyshov was informed of the suspicion

NABU and SAPO reported suspicion of abuse of office and obtaining unlawful benefit to the current Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov.

This was reported by the press services of NABU and SAPO .

It is noted that at the time of the crime, Chernyshov held the position of Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers qualified his actions under four articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the capital’s developer and his proxy developed a scheme to illegally obtain a land plot in Kyiv for the construction of a residential complex. To do this, they turned to Chernyshov, who, together with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Regional Development, the Minister’s advisor, and the director of a state-owned enterprise, created conditions for the transfer of the relevant plot.

“According to them, the developer was to give the state a part of the future apartments in a quantity proportional to the value of the land plot. In order to minimize this quantity, the land and the buildings on it were valued almost five times cheaper, and the difference between this valuation and the market value exceeded UAH 1 billion. It is this amount that the state would have received less real estate in the event of the contracts being fulfilled,” the NABU explained.

The total amount of the unlawful benefit provided amounted to about 16.8 million hryvnias.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau noted that the Deputy Prime Minister has become the sixth suspect in the case. Earlier, 5 more suspects were informed of the suspicion.

At the same time, Chernyshov informed that he had talked with NABU detectives for over 2 hours.

“I am grateful for the correct and respectful attitude. I assured that this approach is mutual and confirmed my readiness for full cooperation in the legal sphere. I am reviewing all the documents provided,” he concluded.

As a reminder, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office conducted searches at the residence of the current Deputy Prime Minister, Oleksiy Chernyshov .

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers made a statement regarding Chernyshov’s departure, stating thatthe minister is on a working trip to European countries , which will last until the end of the week.

By the way, Volodymyr Zelenskyy also reported that Minister Chernyshov is on a business trip abroad , after which he will return to Ukraine.

As journalists found out, Chernyshov’s family left abroad : his son left Ukraine on June 19, and his wife the next day.
