The sky was held: air defense forces shot down 146 “Shaheeds”, seven ballistic and five cruise missiles of the Russians at night

On the night of June 23, the Ukrainian Air Force repelled one of the largest air attacks since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In total, the enemy launched 368 air targets across the territory of Ukraine, the main blow being directed at the capital, Kyiv. As a result of fire and electronic warfare, 354 enemy targets were neutralized.
This was reported by the press service of the Air Force.
The attack lasted from 8:00 PM on June 22 and included a combined volley of drones and missiles. In particular:
- 352 drones, including up to 160 Shaheds, as well as various types of simulator drones. They were launched from Kursk, Shatalovo, Orel, Bryansk, Millerovoye, Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
- 11 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles launched from Taganrog and Bryansk region.
- 5 Iskander-K cruise missiles launched from the Kursk region.
The aggressor’s target was Kyiv again – the city suffered a direct hit, 6 direct hit points were recorded, and fragments of downed targets fell at 25 more locations in Kyiv and the region.
Thanks to the coordinated work of aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare (EW) units, mobile fire groups, and anti-drone systems, it was possible to neutralize:
- 146 Shahed and other types of drones were destroyed by fire;
- 193 UAVs – location-lost/silenced electronic warfare;
- 7 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles were shot down, 3 more lost their coordinates;
- All 5 Iskander-K cruise missiles have been neutralized.
In total, 354 out of 368 enemy air attack vehicles were eliminated, which was one of the greatest successes of the Ukrainian air defense during the entire war.
Despite the high effectiveness of air defense, tragedies could not be avoided. Direct hits were recorded in six districts of Kyiv and the region. Civilian infrastructure was damaged, there were deaths and injuries.
The Air Force expressed its deep condolences to the families of the deceased and urged citizens to follow safety rules during the alert: stay in shelters and do not ignore air defense signals.
As is known, on the night of June 23, Kyiv again came under massive Russian attack . The enemy used both strike drones and ballistic missiles. At least six people were killed and another 19 were injured as a result of the shelling. Numerous destruction of buildings, fires, collapse of structures, and burning cars were recorded in six districts of the capital.
By the way, on the night of June 23, the Kyiv region suffered another massive missile and drone strike from Russia . The Buchansky and Bila Tserkva districts were the most affected. As a result of the shelling of residential and industrial facilities, large-scale fires broke out, there were casualties among the civilian population and injuries, including rescue workers.
