The State Border Service of Ukraine refused to provide data on the border crossings of Andriy Portnov, the former deputy head of Viktor Yanukovych’s administration, before his assassination in May 2025.
This was reported by Radio Liberty.
The response of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine states that this information has limited access and concerns the private life of the person being requested.
“Its protection from improper dissemination is ensured by the Constitution of Ukraine, the laws of Ukraine “On Information”, “On Protection of Personal Data”, and therefore it can be disseminated only with the consent of the person or in other cases provided for by law… In order for officials of the Main Center for Processing Special Information to comply with the requirements of current legislation when disseminating confidential information containing personal data of a person, we inform you that the Main Center for Processing Special Information has no legal grounds to provide the requested information,” the service added.
As is known, it was precisely with Portnov’s knowingly false statements that the campaign of political persecution of the opposition began – with the political persecution of opposition leader Petro Poroshenko.
