The technology of the future will soon shoot down drones: Ukrainian developers introduced the SlimBeam laser

Ukrainian company Fulltime Robotics is creating a portable SlimBeam laser to combat enemy FPV drones.
The prototype of the installation was presented at IRON DEMO 2025, reports Oboronets.
The installation has a power of 1.5 kW and can hit targets at a distance of up to 1000 meters. SlimBeam also blinds the optics – both drones and stationary stations.
One of the developers from the Fulltime Robotics team said that SlimBeam is one of the lightest installations of this power in the world. Its weight is almost 50 kg.
The laser is planned to be installed at stationary positions and NRCs. One of the main challenges for the developer remains ensuring tracking of the air target during flight.
“We are currently working on target tracking. That is, we cannot yet track objects for a long time. We need to “lead” the target for some time – 5-10-15 seconds to destroy it. We are not yet able to ensure good accuracy, but we are working on it,” the developer noted.
The SlimBeam laser is designed specifically to combat small drones, as larger targets require more power.
The developers note that the laser is already effective in civilian use.
SlimBeam can remove obstacles from hard-to-reach structures, such as power lines or high-rise buildings, and cut tree branches.
