The Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland has refused a Polish order – what is the reason?

Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bondar also refused the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Poland.

This occurred after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was stripped of the Order of the White Eagle. Vasyl Bondar called this a “historically unjust step,” which is particularly painful in the face of Russian aggression.

At the same time, he emphasized that Ukraine and Poland remain strategic partners, and such situations are only beneficial to Russia.

As a reminder, Polish President Karol Nawrocki signed a decision to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle in connection with the awarding of the honorary title “Heroes of the UPA” to the Separate Special Operations Center “North” of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine .

In response, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stated that he would return the Commander’s Cross with Star of the Order of Merit for Poland.
