Ukraine is preparing sanctions initiatives against those states that consume the most energy from Russia.
This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga during the Fair Play conference dedicated to increasing sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation, Interfax-Ukraine reports .
He noted that Ukraine is closely monitoring the growth of trade turnover between Russia and a number of countries, including those in Central Asia.
In some places, an increase in the supply of dual-use products from such countries to the Russian Federation has been recorded.
“We will also react and call on our partners – the countries that consume Russian oil the most. There are not so many of them. At the same time, the so-called “shadow fleet” is actively used. In the near future, we will initiate appropriate sanctions steps,” Sibiga emphasized.
The Foreign Ministry also called on partners to strengthen control over Russia’s circumvention of sanctions through intermediary countries and strengthen mechanisms for verifying supply chains that may contribute to the Russian military-industrial complex.
Sibiga also noted that Russian oil, gas and related products, which provide up to 50% of revenues to the Russian federal budget, continue to enter European markets. Thus, in April of this year alone, Russia earned about $13 billion from the sale of energy resources.
Recall that the German technology company exported limited technologies to Russia even after the European Union imposed a new round of sanctions against Vladimir Putin’s regime over its invasion of Ukraine.
As reported, the US and the European Union have suspended cooperation in the joint fight against Russian sanctions evasion.
By the way, the European Union plans to impose sanctions against two Chinese banks that allegedly helped Russia circumvent trade restrictions.
