Italian specialist Andrea Maldera has become the new head coach of the Ukrainian national football team.

The Ukrainian Football Association reported this.

Maldera became the first foreigner in history to coach the Ukrainian national team. His candidacy was approved by the UAF Executive Committee upon the recommendation of the National Teams Committee.

The contract with the Italian was signed for two years with the possibility of extension.

The coach worked for a long time at Milan , where he trained youth teams, provided analysis, and served on the first-team staff. Over the years, he collaborated with coaches such as Massimiliano Allegri , Clarence Seedorf , and Filippo Inzaghi .

From 2016 to 2021, Maldera already worked on the coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team together with Andriy Shevchenko .

He later joined Roberto De Zerbi’s staff at English club Brighton & Gove Albion , before moving with him to French club Olympique Marseille , where he served as assistant coach.

Earlier, Serhiy Rebrov left his post as head coach of the Ukrainian national team.
