On Monday, June 8, the UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting, convened at the official request of Ukraine due to the latest wave of Russian attacks.
This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga.
According to him, Russia’s latest massive strikes demonstrate the Kremlin’s unwillingness to move toward a diplomatic settlement and confirm its course toward further escalation of the war.
“The latest wave of Russian strikes is yet another reminder that Moscow continues to choose escalation over peace, and terror over diplomacy,” Sibiga emphasized.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy noted that maintaining international pressure on Russia remains a necessary condition for restoring respect for international law and the principles of the UN Charter.
The minister also said that promoting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ‘s initiative to end the war and achieve a just peace remains important.
