George R.R. Martin announced during the Iceland Noir Festival in Reykjavik that he is working on sequels to the series “Game of Thrones.” The writer confirmed that several projects are in development, the events of which take place after the end of the original story.

Speaking at the festival, George R.R. Martin revealed that he and his writing team are working on several series initiatives. He noted that there are five or six projects in development, most of which are prequels to Game of Thrones.

The author explained that the “A Song of Ice and Fire” universe is expanding with new directions, including “House of the Dragon” and “A Knight of the Seven Kings.” According to him, some of the projects are in various stages of development, and he is working on them together with other authors.

As part of the discussion, George Martin confirmed the presence of a sequel among the new developments.

“In addition to A Knight of the Seven Kings and House of the Dragon, there are other spin-offs in development. Most are prequels. There are several series in various stages of development, and I am working on them with other writers. Yes, we are also working on a sequel,” Martin said.

It is worth adding that this was the first direct confirmation in a long time that the story after the end of the original “Game of Thrones” could be continued in a new project.
