The United States and European countries have prepared a joint security guarantee plan for Ukraine, which is intended to consolidate a possible peace agreement with Russia and prevent new aggression. The document provides for a multi-level deterrence system and clear commitments from Washington.

This is reported by Bloomberg , citing informed officials.

The plan is based on several layers of security. The first line of containment will be the 800,000-strong Ukrainian army , which the Allies will continue to support with weapons, training, and resources. This should ensure the full combat capability and readiness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the second level, at a distance from the front line, multinational forces of a coalition of European countries can be deployed , which will operate on the territory of Ukraine as an element of security and stabilization.

The US in this model will focus on providing intelligence and constant monitoring to detect attempts to violate the peace agreement, including possible Russian operations under a foreign flag along the contact line and state borders.

In the event of renewed fighting, the Ukrainian army will be the first line of defense. The allies will first try to stop the escalation through diplomatic methods. If that does not work, within a few days Ukraine will receive military support from US resources .

American officials call these guarantees an analogue of NATO’s Article 5 obligations , but in an adapted format. President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Washington agreed to give these guarantees legal force through a vote in the US Congress.

At the same time, sources note that it is currently unknown whether Vladimir Putin will agree to such conditions. Previously, he has repeatedly opposed the presence of NATO troops in Ukraine and demanded to limit the size of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

It was previously reported that US President Donald Trump is convinced that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not seek peace and ultimately intends to seize all of Ukraine.

Recall, the day before yesterday, the Kremlin stated that Russia allegedly seeks not a temporary truce, but “full-fledged peace”, while rejecting the idea of a Christmas ceasefire.
