The US and G7 partners announced new aid packages for Ukraine to restore energy supplies.
During the G7 “Energy Ramstein,” Ukraine’s partners announced new aid packages to restore energy infrastructure. Specifically, the United States is prepared to allocate over €400 million.
The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine reported this.
The meeting took place on January 23 with the participation of Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba and Deputy Minister Maryna Denysyuk. The partners confirmed the provision of new humanitarian aid for Ukraine’s energy sector.
Among the announced support packages:
-
USA – more than 400 million euros;
-
Great Britain – almost 23 million euros;
-
Netherlands – 23 million euros;
-
Germany – 60 million euros;
-
Italy – 10 million euros, with an additional 50 million euros provided in the 2026 budget.
Oleksiy Kuleba also noted the assistance partners provided to Ukraine in January. Specifically, the European Commission donated 447 generators to Kyiv and communities across the country, with a focus on frontline regions. Poland provided nearly 400 generators for the Kyiv region, Italy 78 high-capacity boilers, Lithuania 90 generators, and Germany modular boiler plants with a total capacity of 16 MW.
In addition, Switzerland donated up to 500,000 euros to the Kharkiv and Kyiv regions, Japan donated 140 small and medium-power generators, 60 transformers, and two cogeneration units, and France donated more than 100 generators with a total capacity of 13 MW and other equipment.
The Ministry of Regional Development reported that the meeting participants also agreed to replenish the National Reserve of Mobile Energy Equipment, create a bank of critical equipment for rapid response after attacks, scale up the physical protection of energy facilities, and expand decentralized generation for stable heat and water supplies.
Meanwhile, emergency power outages continue to be forced in most regions of Ukraine due to the significant deterioration of the power grid. These outages are the result of massive missile and drone attacks and the failure of several power generation facilities.
Meanwhile, Kyiv plans to gradually transition from emergency hourly power outages to predictable schedules of up to 3-4 power outages in the coming days. According to Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal, the situation in the capital’s power grid remains challenging due to a significant capacity deficit. However, thanks to the coordinated efforts of Ukrenergo and distribution system operators, a trend toward partial stabilization is being observed.
