On the evening of August 30 and the night of August 31, the United States and Iran exchanged blows for the first time in over a month. The American military attacked Iranian launchers near the Strait of Hormuz, after which Tehran announced strikes on two American air bases in Jordan.

The US military has struck several Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island near the Strait of Hormuz. According to the US, the launchers were preparing to remotely mine the strait.
The US Central Command said that Iranian units posed a threat to civilian sailors and merchant shipping.
“Iran created a threat, and the U.S. military eliminated it to protect civilian mariners, merchant shipping, and the free flow of global commerce,” the U.S. Central Command said.
Following the US strike, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced missile and drone attacks on two US air bases in Jordan. The IRGC called the US strikes a “fatal mistake.”
Thus, hostilities between the US and Iran have resumed after more than a month of hiatus.
It is worth adding that Larak Island is located near the Strait of Hormuz – one of the key routes for global energy transportation.
By the way, the United States and Iran have not yet been able to make progress in negotiations to end the war in the Middle East and restore the interim agreement that the parties concluded in June.
