Poland has rejected a US request to transfer a Patriot battery to strengthen air defense in the Middle East.

This is reported by Rzeczpospolita.

According to the publication, Washington unofficially asked Warsaw to temporarily transfer one battery along with interceptor missiles. They were planned to be used to protect against possible attacks by Iran.

This includes, in particular, covering American bases and allies in the region, which could become targets of missile strikes.

However, Poland immediately made it clear: these systems would remain at home.

Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosyniak-Kamysz explained that Patriots are currently performing a key task – protecting Polish skies and NATO’s eastern flank.

“Nothing changes – we don’t plan to move them anywhere,” he said.

According to him, the allies understand this position, because for Warsaw, the issue of its own security comes first.

At the same time, the US already had similar experience – they previously transferred air defense systems between regions, in particular, moving THAAD from South Korea.

This time, Poland decided not to take any risks and leave its complexes in place.

Earlier, it was reported that Iran launched a missile strike on the facilities of a gas complex in the city of Ras Laffan in Qatar.According to sources, the missiles were able to bypass Patriot air defense systems, which led to significant destruction.

Recall that over three days of fighting in the Middle East, more than 800 PAC-3 missiles were used against American MIM-104 Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems.
