On Wednesday, November 5, the US Air Force conducted a test launch of an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile.

This was reported by the press service of Vandenberg Space Air Base.

The test was designated GT 254. It was conducted to assess the reliability, combat readiness, and accuracy of the ICBM system.

“This launch is part of a series of planned and periodic events that are critical to evaluating and validating the capabilities of Minuteman III,” the press service said in a statement.

The missile is known to have traveled 4,200 miles, or about 6,750 kilometers, before reaching the U.S. test site on Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

Advanced sensors deployed at the test site collected critical data during the final phase of the flight, which will be analyzed by experts to assess the system’s performance and support U.S. defense and space programs.

It was previously reported that the United States is preparing for the first test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) with a nuclear warhead , but without actual weapons.

By the way, US President Donald Trump announced the decision to resume nuclear weapons testing for the first time in 33 years .
