Donald Trump’s administration will impose secondary sanctions and tariffs against Russia if a ceasefire is not achieved in Ukraine within 50 days.

This was stated by White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt during a briefing.

“If there is no ceasefire or peace agreement in Ukraine within 50 days, Russia will face very high tariffs and secondary sanctions,” Levitt emphasized.

She also added that sanctions would be imposed on countries that buy oil from Moscow. Levitt said such actions would cause “severe damage to the Russian economy.”

“And I want to add that the president wants the war to end with a diplomatic resolution. He insists on that. His administration has spent many hours and a lot of time trying to resolve this war,” the White House spokeswoman added.

It was previously reported that Donald Trump’s administration is considering the possibility of introducing new sanctions that could affect not only Russia, but also countries that maintain economic ties with it .

As reported, EU countries have made significant progress in agreeing on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia. The new sanctions include a reduction in the ceiling price for Russian oil.
